Week 11

On a recent road trip I was amazed that I found what is considered to be street art or acts of kindness by  people posting little gifts of their artistic creations for others to find and appreciate.
This parking sign seemed to be a favorite place to share and so this weeks word is: "Signage."
I did not alter this photo except to crop out the distracting background, rather quickly it seems, since I didn't clean up around the edges either. :-D

Week 10

Our word for this week is "Circular".  I saw these amazing ink samples on another blog and just had to create some for myself.  I used a variety of inks, crayons, colored pencils and watercolors to make these samples for my studio.  I am currently working on much larger sizes to hang on the wall.  I think they would look pretty awesome framed.

Week 9

The word for this week is "Found".  I started a series of photos over a year ago at my local park.  It amazed me one day, shortly after the 4th of July, all the stuff that got left-behind by those who had visited the park before me.  So, now everyday, I take my camera and hunt for the trinkets that were left for me to find.

Week 8

With the winter season coming to an end, I chose to use "Winter" as the word prompt for this week.  I find it totally amazing how a little bit of snow can change the whole feeling of a photo.  A barren field becomes more than just an unplanted field, it becomes sealed as if Mother Nature is saying: "It's not time to plant yet,  Give it a few more days".  Yet in other parts of the USA and the world, it is showing signs of spring already.  I'm not sure I am ready for those hot days to return.  I'm happy to give it a few more days-weeks-months!

Week 7

The word this week is: "Architecture".  This is a photo I took of the "Salt Palace" which was built along the edge of the Great Salt Lake.  This is one of my favorite photos and I had some issues with it.  There were cars in the parking lot that had to be removed, a light pole that was in the way and the sky was over-cast and very gray.  I blended a hand-painted background with the photo and ran it through CS5 filters, plus a couple of iphone apps.  Now it has the feel and look of a drawing.  It's one of my favorites.

Week 6

The word for this week is: "Abstract".  This is a painting I did that I loaded into my ipod and applied several apps to it.  I merged an image of a forest of "quaking aspens" which gave me the effect of scratches.  Share your links in the comment area so we can view your abstract photos!

Week 5

Word Prompt is "Underwater".  I ran this first photo through several iphone apps to get this negative, chroma look, but I think the tutorial for creating this look might still be in the tutorial section.  Check the sidebar.

Week 3

"Mirrored" is this weeks word prompt and here is a sample of what an iphone app called: Snapseed can do.  Have fun with this and share your links with us in the comments below.  We'll come and take a peek at your images too!
