Week 8

With the winter season coming to an end, I chose to use "Winter" as the word prompt for this week.  I find it totally amazing how a little bit of snow can change the whole feeling of a photo.  A barren field becomes more than just an unplanted field, it becomes sealed as if Mother Nature is saying: "It's not time to plant yet,  Give it a few more days".  Yet in other parts of the USA and the world, it is showing signs of spring already.  I'm not sure I am ready for those hot days to return.  I'm happy to give it a few more days-weeks-months!

Week 6

The word for this week is: "Abstract".  This is a painting I did that I loaded into my ipod and applied several apps to it.  I merged an image of a forest of "quaking aspens" which gave me the effect of scratches.  Share your links in the comment area so we can view your abstract photos!

Week 4

This week our word prompt is: "Shadows".  Have fun and share a link to your photos in the comments below!

7-01-2011

For July I found a challenge for us that is slightly different.  To paint glass or to photograph glass is difficult even in the best of conditions, so I thought it would be fun to play around with some glass this month.  I would love to have you show us what you can create using this Wineglass.  Downloaded from HERE  (Deviant Duality Stock).  Please share your creative layouts with us by posting a link to your blog, picasso site, flickr or wherever you post your photos.  We would love to see your digital or other style of artwork.  Have fun!

#6-Challenge

When I was searching for a special image to post for this challenge, I went back to this one because I love the look on her face.  It says, "Who-me?"  LOL!  I have recently been playing around with a variety of interesting techniques for coloring black and white photos and thought you might like to give this a try yourself.  So this is the challenge for the month of April:  Colorize this black and white (public domain) image.  Enjoy!

#5 Challenge Photo

I am in the process of creating some background stock that I will have available for everyone to use.  I thought it would be interesting to offer you this background this month to see what you can do with it.
As for a theme-I'll leave that up to you, based on how this background inspires you.  Have fun and don't forget to share your work by posting a comment with a link!

#4-Challenge Photo & Photo Prompt

Yesterday I took a short road trip out to Wendover, Nevada.  This guy is an iconic legend, decades old and because I find vintage advertising intriguing, I thought it would be fun to play with him in various settings.  We'll name him "Slim Jim" for this bit of fun and let's see where in the world, we can find him besides, Nevada!   So use your travel photos or images from the web and have some creative fun!
The Photo prompt for February will be: "Life on the Edge".  Hope you have some fun with these two challenges and share your creative illusions with us!  Leave a comment with a link to your blog, flickr, photobucket, or ??

Happy New Year! Challenge #3 & Photo Prompt

I recently ran across a new website that offered a variety of wonderful digital findings.  This photo is from that site and I wrote to Kevin King, the owner of this photo to ask his permission to use it here.  His joyful reply was "Of Course!  Use them all if you want!" and he extended that invitation to all of you.  He has only a few photos on his website but he also has some wonderful custom fonts waiting for you!
As for the photo prompt, for some reason the term "Earth Bound" has stayed with me for the past couple of weeks and the more I think about this prompt, the more ideas come to me.  I hope it inspires you as well.
I also wrote up a new tutorial today, Chroma Negative.  Hope you enjoy it, it is a technique that can be used for a variety of images and photos.  The link is in the sidebar-#4 Tutorial.  Have fun!

#2-Digital & Photo Challenge

With the holiday season fast approaching and with the variety of beliefs we all have, I chose not to do a digital challenge to reflect any one particular belief.  The digital challenge is more in keeping with another belief of new beginnings and I selected a Seed Pod image that I took last year at the Bird Aviary in Liberty Park.  With the end of the year approaching and a new one starting in just 30 more days, I thought this image would be more appropriate for all to enjoy.
The photo prompt is again in keeping with our inner beliefs and I chose a word prompt that is also in keeping with the season, new beginnings and our own personal beliefs.  "Reflections".  There are many, many ways to interpret this one word and we would love to see what you come up with.
Please feel free to do both the digital, photograph or combine both.  Have fun, play & share your visions with us by leaving us a link to your work in the comments below.
I have shared another tutorial this month, using this seed pod as the focal point.  Hope you enjoy it-it's #3 Galaxy-Under the Sea in the side bar.
Thank you and Have a fabulous Holiday Season!
It was brought to my attention that this photo was posted upside down.  I went back to the original image and sure enough, it somehow got turned on its head, so when you are playing with this seed pot, leave it as is, or turn it right side up!  Thanks and have fun!
